Gabrielle Trecek, LCSW (she/her)

Psychotherapist

I love working with parents and professionals who are looking to fit therapy into a busy life. I promise you; you are worth it!”
— Gabrielle Trecek, LCSW

Hello! I’m Gabrielle. I‘m so happy you have found your way here.

If you’re looking for a therapist, chances are you’ve been feeling stuck for a long time. Maybe you have been to a therapist (or a few) and are starting to feel hopeless because nothing has changed yet. You and your struggles are totally unique. You deserve a therapist you feel comfortable with – someone who is able to tailor your sessions to what you need.

My goal in our work together is to help you in the way that is right for you. We’ll work together to get there.

The clients I see:

Many of my clients are women who would describe themselves as “Type A”, people pleasers, or perfectionists. Maybe that’s been tolerable for most of your life, but now something has shifted and it’s feeling like too much. I see a lot of women who may feel like they need to do everything right or well, but it’s leaving them feeling unhappy, empty, or stressed. My areas of expertise include anxiety, OCD, and trauma. I also have training in perinatal mental health, specifically for anxiety and OCD, and extensive experience working with survivors of sexual assault.

We are likely a good fit if you experience intrusive thoughts, are a perfectionist to a fault, spend hours on WebMD, live in fear that your child will get hurt, need constant reassurance that things will be OK, experience social anxiety, or spend more time in your own head than you would like to.

Maybe you have started to avoid things that make you uncomfortable. The more we avoid, the smaller our world becomes, and the things that once brought us joy and fulfillment have vanished from most of our waking hours. It is my greatest honor to hold space for you as you process your struggles, and to partner with you as you make the difficult but rewarding changes in your life to help you break free from cycles of avoidance, anxiety, and hopelessness.

My therapy style:

My style is flexible and person centered. I believe that so much of the therapeutic process comes down to the relationship between you and your therapist. Getting to know you as a person and learning about your personal goals is one of my top priorities. The modalities I use most often are Exposure Response Prevention therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Behavioral Activation.

What I’m like:

First off, I love being a therapist. I believe that the therapy room is a sacred space. It is my absolute honor to be trusted with the goals, hopes and anxieties of my clients. It is endlessly rewarding to bear witness to each and every client's story.

Outside of the office, I find joy engaging with the people and hobbies that bring me happiness. I love going on long walks while listening to a podcast, reading, trying new bakeries, and watching old movies. Some of my favorites are Casablanca, Singing in the Rain, and Meet Me in St. Louis. When traveling I prioritize checking out theme parks. I love themed parties and gratuitous holiday décor.  Anything kitschy makes me happy. I have been planning on getting into scrapbooking for the past few years…and it’s on my to-do list to start.

My education and training:

I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and my Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare and Justice from Marquette University. I have worked in various levels of care from inpatient to intensive outpatient. Much of my hospital work has been focused on individuals who are dealing with anxiety or OCD. While in graduate school I interned at the Aurora Healing Center where I provided outpatient psychotherapy to survivors of sexual assault. I have also earned my Trauma Informed Care Certificate from the University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin and do continuing education to consistently improve my patients’ therapeutic journeys. I recently completed the 2-day PSI Training on perinatal mental health.
